tiny plant life

Wednesday, May 22nd, 2013

Yesterday our home was filled with Lakeland creatives that we have the utmost respect for. Shuffling decorative elements here and there, placing plants, making styling decisions. More than a dozen beautiful plants were brought in to quite literally bring life to our space, and we also had the good fortune to have extremely talented creative friends with incredible taste that allowed us to borrow items here and there to round out the proportions of our space. Some of what we borrowed included about ten lovely, handmade succulent terreriums made by our friend Elizabeth (*ahem you may or may not be seeing a ton of photos of her and her fiancé right here later on this week, just sayin’) These lovely little terrariums were places all around our living space, and every time I looked at them they made me smile.

Elizabeth was kind enough to leave behind a couple of her tiniest (cutest!) little succulents for me to love (and hopefully keep alive)  as well as some cuttings from other succulents for me to transplant and start creating my very own terrariums! These little guys are currently on our kitchen counter on a damp paper towel waiting to be placed in a pretty vessel to grow!

true story: the first time I saw/held the teeny tiny terrarium in the little navy vessel on the left, I cried…cried!

Tears of cuteness I tell you ! …I’m so glad she belongs to me now!

Matt and I spent time enjoying our apartment after the shoot . We enjoyed all the corners of our space  while we watched The Life Aquatic.

Confession: we may have watched The Life Aquatic twice yesterday. Maybe we love it, a lot…..don’t judge us.

Wish me luck with my new little plant friends…

That time I felt a bit like Charlotte Charles in my lucky orange dress…

Wednesday, April 17th, 2013

Lately, Matt and I have been taking our cameras with us much more often when we go out and about. We have also been making an effort to “shoot just to shoot” once a week. For ourselves. We try not to add pressure that these photos be used for anything, blogging, social media, or otherwise. The goal is that once a week we are challenging our photographic brains. We  take photos of one another, beautiful places…whatever. These are from Easter Sunday.

I was wearing my favorite (very) orange dress! I feel like it makes me brave. Is that a strange way to feel about a dress? Between the bright, brave dress, and the way that my hair was falling that day, I realized just how much I was having a “Chuck” kind of day. “Chuck” of course being Charlotte Charles from Pushing Daisies. Don’t get me wrong, I do not believe myself to look anything like Anna Friel, the actress that plays Chuck. But I feel like this outfit was very in line with what Chuck might wear, if not a bit more casual. “The facts are these”….brave clothing makes me much more comfortable in front of the camera.

Do you have any clothes that make you feel more brave, or like a favorite character?

score!

Wednesday, April 3rd, 2013

I was perusing the local thrift a couple weeks ago and I came across this cobalt beauty. It’s a flouncy little Target skirt that I snagged for 4 bucks instead of 20.SCORE. I also picked up the grey tee for like 2 bucks. DOUBLE SCORE. Pull it together with a skinny mustard yellow belt and white sandals found at Target (on sale!) and this has become my favorite thrifty thrifted outfit so far! You can catch me chowing down on beignets, going out on dates with Matt, shopping with my mom, and hitting the thrift all summer long in this outfit!

Also, my hair situation is getting further and further out of hand. My bangs have even started doing this out of whack flippy-do thing. Something must be done! If you didn’t see my hair help post….give an indecisive girl a little help and head over to share your opinions on what in the world I should do to my hair!

Seven dollar dress?……YES!

I’m not sure if you have noticed …but I am pretty thrifty. I pride myself on it, always have. I remember being in high school and most of the girls in my class were bragging about their $200 jeans, and I was all like ” What’s up, I got this whole outfit for $20!” …needless to say , they didn’t get it.

But I get it. I scour the thrifts, I shop the sales, and I’m patient. I do a lot of inspiration window shopping so that I can spot the perfect piece for mixing in when I see it at the right price. yup….my mom taught me well.  :)

I snagged this baby right up at Target just after Christmas when I had some gift card shopping to do! $7.00! I had been eye-ballin’ it from the moment it hit the racks, but $25 is a bit too steep for me.

It fits like a dream, is super comfy, and I can dress it up or down!

What a beut!

Yup, no “real photos” of this lovely. But I think that phone photos from the bathroom of a fancy restaurant count right? By the way, this is a very rare glimpse at me with straight hair. It does NOT happen often, mainly out of laziness, but I also feel like my hair just wants to be curly you know?  ;)

Have a lovely Wednesday!

Matt and I are settling in to 2013 (finally) and with a ton of photography work on the horizon, one thing we wanted to be better about was taking photos just for fun! So, be prepared to see a lot more outfit posting and way more for the heck of it photo bombs around here….Hope you don’t mind. ;)

A little trip to the lake after a meeting in town yielded these just for fun lovelies….

(that I edited all on my own might I add)  !

Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday…get out there and do something just for fun!
