out and about (in Savannah) // The Coffee Fox

Tuesday, April 30th, 2013

Matt and I have a new must-visit stop in Savannah. It’s called The Coffee Fox….we are a bit obsessed. Earlier this month when we were in Savannah to shoot a wedding, we went twice. This past visit (last weekend) we knew that it was a visit we had to make! The coffee fox offers a hip, laid back atmosphere, and delicious (delicious!) coffee. They also have yummy pastry and cheese board varieties! I usually get a drip coffee with cinnamon, and Matt a Horchata latte, we love it! Oh, and the fact that it’s located just a street corner away from The Paris Market sure doesn’t hurt either! ;)

It’s not a trip to Savannah without a visit to The Coffee Fox!

I leave you on this Tuesday with two thoughts:

- I sure do have a lot of photos of me sipping coffee here and there….true to life I guess.haha

- I’m playing around with the idea of creating a “guide to Savannah” button on the sidebar. That way, if anyone wants to plan a trip to Savannah , and wants to know all of our favorite stops, it’s all in one place! An actual guide to our favorites, as well as links to out-and-about posts….whatcha think?

We left our hearts in Savannah

Tuesday, April 16th, 2013

I really do feel like we leave a little piece of ourselves behind every time we depart from Savannah. Don’t get me wrong, we LOVE living in Lakeland, more than I ever thought we would actually. But there is something lovely about Savannah that stole our hearts our very first trip….I wish we could be here once a month but I guess I have to savor the time that we do have there. It was waaay more cold (and also rainy) than we were anticipating so taking the camera along wasn’t always the best option.

So, I give you…..a whole giant miss-mash of random photos from our time in Savannah!

We had to take another trip to Back in the Day Bakery of course! I’m glad to enjoy from scratch banana pudding and glass bottle cokes with my love in an adorable retro bakery any day!

…lots and LOTS of time was spent wandering around the city people watching and architecture scoping

Sometimes when you walk the ENTIRE city, you find stinkin’ awesome burger places that are sure to become staples…like Betty Bombers in the VA building. Delicious!

Hello gravy fries!

In Savannah…you can even have fun in the parking garages.  ;)

This place had the most amazing bottomless salsa (which has sparked a MAJOR salsa kick in the Kent home by the way) , delicious tacos and quesadillas, and local craft beer! Seriously. Taco Basement,on Broughton Street…if you are ever in Savannah !

only in Savannah….

Only in Savannah do you turn the corner to find a hipster dude perched on the side of a building with  his pup, playing an accordion. He was really talented actually….and then he started singing! Amazing voice, crazy accordion skills ….thanks dude, you’re neat!

If you like walking, people watching, and most importantly eating …come see Savannah!

Who knows, maybe we will bump into each other!  :)

out and about (in Ohio) : Patterson fruit farm

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012

I have lived in Florida my whole life. That’s 25 years of not experiencing the seasons. I did get a little peek at what fall really looks like a couple weeks ago when we shot a wedding in Ohio. We spent a lot of time at Patterson’s Fruit Farm. Home of the world’s best apple cider. It’s very different from the “apple cider” that we get in Florida. Sweet, filtered, pure apple deliciousness. We had a lot of fun enjoying our cinnamon donuts and hot cider while we explored the park that the Farm is on!

It is now my mission in life this fall season to track down some cider here locally that is even half as good!

up in the air….

Last night we got home from our trip to Cleveland, which was right after our trip to Savannah. We had an amazing time, and shot two of our most inspiring weddings to date. But boy, is it good to be home. My bed; my favorite coffee; my netflix full of all my favorites just ready for me to watch (while I blog, fold laundry, or pack for the next trip ;) .

It’s just good. I love exploring new cities with Matt, and working with him . But there is something very special about being in our home with him too. There are some very exciting things for Penny + Finn on the horizon. More to come on that when everything is more official.  ;)

I hope you have been enjoying all of the lovely guest postings by some very lovely ladies! I know I enjoyed reading them when they arrived in my inbox!

There is so much to share about our travels, and I have tons of new ideas to share too. I have missed blogging and having a connection with you guys and am excited to get back to it!

Thanks for reading!

I will be back to some blogging and sharing later in the week (with lots of photos!)

Disney days….

Tuesday, September 25th, 2012

This post is titled “Disney Days” but it’s actually a recap of our time at Disney and in Savannah recently. I fibbed. I don’t think you will mind.   ;)

Every road trip we take to Savannah requires good tunes. But since our road trip was a seg-way into our vacation, I thought we would get some new ones! You might have read last week that I have been listening to lots of new music, so it was pretty easy to figure out what my choice was! Of Monsters and Men please! (and thank you Matt!)

Awesome new music filled our car while I crocheted my way to Savannah!

(who wouldn’t want to spend four hours driving around with this hot man?)   ;)

We hit up some favorite spots and also tried some new ones! Leopold’s is a staple for us! Delicious, open very late (for all the SCAD students) and has a lovely nostalgic atmosphere! We grabbed some dinner at Isaac’s and sat on the roof to enjoy the breeze! AMAZING food at Isaac’s! If you are EVER in Savannah….Isaac’s is a stop you should make for dinner!

Another new place we tried while in Savannah was J. Christopher’s , named the best brunch in the city by Savannah magazine!

I was not.disapointed. Bacon and incredible maple toast! I have been craving it ever since!

(seriously, I would LOVE some right NOW)

We didn’t do a lot of shopping around, but we did do a lot of eating. haha

We can’t help it , Savannah is bursting with amazing food options! We had to hit up Back in the Day Bakery again! We love the atmosphere, and the food (and sweets!) are awesome !

I was so full from my delicious lunch that I had to get my lavender cookies to go! ( and they boxed it up so cute! )

We also had entertainment while we dined at Back in the Day Bakery! There was a shoot going on for Local Palette magazine going on. How perfect! We really enjoyed observing, it’s pretty interesting to see how other creative people work.

Back at home!

We were home just long enough to re-pack our bags and head to Orlando for some Disney fun!  But Matt loves me so much that he took me to (another!) showing of Ruby Sparks at the local theatre! What an awesome way to “officially” kick off our vacation!

….if you still haven’t seen Ruby Sparks, you need to….seriously.  :)

First up in Orlando…Hollywood Studios! Toy Story Midway Mania, Rock N’ Roller Coaster….all of our favorites!

Epcot! The best place in all of Disney to get dinner! We chose the dine-in restaurant in China!

….and the best of all. Magic Kingdom!

We usually opt for the ferry over the monorail when it’s warm…it adds to the magic!

Dole Whips. Delicious pineapple/vanilla swirled soft serve, it’s like a creamsicle, but with pineapple! yum.

When your legs get tired, get on the people mover! It’s a sit down ride that takes you on a ten minute ride around tomorrowland!

Goodbye vacation days….you were fun!
