Elizabeth // Sean

Thursday, May 23rd, 2013

A few Saturdays ago we walked all over Lakeland with our recently engaged friends Elizabeth and Sean. We love getting to know people through the act of photographing them. It’s especially wonderful when we get to photograph those that we already do know. There’s an automatic ease and sense of adventure about it! Elizabeth and Sean are seriously stylish and all about outdoor spaces so we really wanted to keep it simple for their shoot. We didn’t feel the need to go very far, instead we chose to explore their backyard. Lots of lush greenery, alleyways full of interesting shapes and textures, and two silly-hearts in front of the camera….no need to get complicated.

Oh, and their cat, Cheshire, followed us all around…which was even more fun!

inspire me Monday : apartment painting madness!

Monday, May 20th, 2013

 Hello! Good Monday!

It has been a marathon around the Kent home as of late. The kind of life chaos filled week that creates a manic giggle effect. Do you know what I mean….It makes you good ever so slightly coo coo for a while. We have been creating and preparing for our apartment to be photographed tomorrow. It’s so fun, and it’s been a challenge because we have like zero budget. But that’s the kind of fun, creative challenge that I enjoy! We were preparing to paint most of our main living space yesterday morning when a water main to our water heater busted. BUSTED. Within ten minutes, our floors we covered in an inch of water. This threw off our schedule to say the absolute least.

But Matt and I are NOT quitters. We are determined, and maybe even a little bit stubborn. So, as soon as we got all of the water sucked up and fans set up on the carpeted areas, we got right to work! We spent all night painting and cleaning. Everyone should totally have a flooded apartment two days before it’s to be photographed….it keeps you on your toes. ;)

What our living room/kitchen looked like before the paint:

Light blue on two of four living room walls, and a very turquoise kitchen.

 Goodbye turquoise, hello coral. YES.

Matt ended up taking all the cabinet facings off while he painted. And, since I’m a weirdo, I just had to take photos of my constantly growing mis-matched dishes collection.

We are using some paint that we have had left over from when we moved in, as well as some leftover paint from friends with fantastic taste in color to keep cost down. All this painting recently has got me thinking about our bedroom and the office. I’m inspired to paint the entire apartment! Most of my descriptions on Pinterest lately have simply been “paint”…there are so many gorgeous colors out there!

I’m so happy that we are in full swing again after “The Great Flood” ( which is what Matt has decided that we shall refer to it as. haha) The painting is done aside from some touching up…..it all happens tomorrow.

Should I document the process a bit for you to see? I may not be able to share any images until the issue comes out, but is that something you guys would be interested in?

hmmm…..now what else can I paint?

overalls are awesome.

Wednesday, May 8th, 2013

It’s no secret that I love a good pair of overalls. And believe you me, I have been on the prowl!

I had this perfectly worn in pair when I was in high school. But, after I outgrew them, I had the hardest time finding a replacement pair. Up until about two years ago I wasn’t really into thrifting clothes. Housewares sure. It never occurred to me that thrift stores might have cute clothes that are in good condition. Once I discovered that thrift stores can be a haven for awesome clothes I have been hunting for a glorious pair of perfect overalls!

Last week….I found them! I found them!

Here’s my new favorite item of clothing….is it weird that I feel a slight desire to name these overalls?

If you have never had the pleasure of wearing a perfectly worn in pair of overalls….find some.

It will be the most comfortable thing you have ever worn. Promise. :)

out and about (in Savannah) // The Coffee Fox

Tuesday, April 30th, 2013

Matt and I have a new must-visit stop in Savannah. It’s called The Coffee Fox….we are a bit obsessed. Earlier this month when we were in Savannah to shoot a wedding, we went twice. This past visit (last weekend) we knew that it was a visit we had to make! The coffee fox offers a hip, laid back atmosphere, and delicious (delicious!) coffee. They also have yummy pastry and cheese board varieties! I usually get a drip coffee with cinnamon, and Matt a Horchata latte, we love it! Oh, and the fact that it’s located just a street corner away from The Paris Market sure doesn’t hurt either! ;)

It’s not a trip to Savannah without a visit to The Coffee Fox!

I leave you on this Tuesday with two thoughts:

- I sure do have a lot of photos of me sipping coffee here and there….true to life I guess.haha

- I’m playing around with the idea of creating a “guide to Savannah” button on the sidebar. That way, if anyone wants to plan a trip to Savannah , and wants to know all of our favorite stops, it’s all in one place! An actual guide to our favorites, as well as links to out-and-about posts….whatcha think?

on the prowl …..

 for a high waist bikini!

However, I am having the hardest time finding one. Obviously, it’s important for a bathing suit to fit just right, and I can’t even find one to try on! I have found a few styles that I like online, but they are all pretty pricey and then I don’t have a guarantee that it will fit perfectly. I would even be thrilled to find the perfect high waist bikini on it’s own to mix-and-match with different tops! High waist bikinis are a really fun, retro look! But, I also think that they look especially good on those with a little curve, like me!

……anyone have any leads on where I can find one??
