It’s time. Time for a little break from trying to sell my handmade lovelies.
I have been thinking about this for a couple months now. When I first started learning to crochet and began making items, I had no intention of selling them. I enjoyed making things just for the creativity of it, or creating things for family and friends.I think I was nervous a bit to sell them, because, well what if nobody wanted to buy them?
A few years ago, some my best friend Nikki and I put together a local craft show. We had been having “craft nights” with some other girls that we knew through Starbucks, which were so much fun! We realized that each person was so talented in making things and each had such a unique perspective…..we wanted to celebrate that and have a place to showcase it (and making a bit of extra cash was icing on the cake!) ….the Indie Craft Show was born!
I thought that I would just sell at that show for fun and call it a day. I didn’t count on the FANTASTIC feeling you get when someone likes what you create with your own hands so much that they want to wear it, or give it as a gift!
I have since opened an Etsy shop and set up at about 10 local craft shows! I really do love it!
As much as I enjoy the hand making part, and the selling to those that appreciate it part….I feel like it’s time to regroup, and re-brand. I’m looking forward to having the time to learn some new techniques and find some new inspirations. I have no doubt that I will continue to crochet, I just need the time to sort out some new ideas.
Anybody that sells handmade can tell you how long it can take to continually update an etsy shop, order supplies, sign up and prepare for craft events, design entire setups for craft events ect…..with so much time spent on these elements I feel like the fresh perspective in my hand making is becoming less. Does that make sense?
With that it’s time to take a breather. It can only breed better creativity and brand clarity. There are still plenty of items in the shop but once the listing expire, I will not be listing anything again until the fall.
Until then, take a look at some handmade goodness, and previous craft show setups…..
I’m so excited! I feel like it’s time for a fresh start!
This blog, as well as my etsy shop will be receiving a new name! Over the summer I will be busy selecting the perfect colors and practicing the perfect patterns for items to come in the fall! With extra time, I will be able to practice my product photography and sign up for craft events that will fit the new brand!
It’s like a creative re-birth, and it feels good!
