the truth about me

the truth about me_241

- I am an incredibly awkward conversationalist.

- I love puppies. Especially (but NOT limited to) dachshund and corgi puppies.

- I consume at least 3 cups of coffee on an average day.

- I would absolutely watch TV all day long if I could. Marathon style. Parks and Rec, Downton Abbey, The Walking Dead….yes, yes , and YES.

- I have no idea how to talk to kids (refer to my top truth) . My usual conversation with kids is something like. “Hey. those are cool blocks you got there. …..er, do you like blocks?” or ” Cheerios. I like to eat cheerios….I guess you do too.” it’s pretty bad. I am however very good at making funny faces….so the children are always forgiving.

- I have a tendency to be a fan girl. I find a new actress that I adore. I must see everything they have ever appeared in.

- I have to talk myself into wearing a dress or skirt. I mostly live in jeans.

- I am a classic “over-sharer”. Some people have a really hard time being vulnerable. I have a hard time keeping it cool. I’m so quick to tell someone I just met about really personal things. Nothing weird, or medical….but usually personal.

- I’m the worst at having my photo taken. Just ask Matt. I get so finicky when I’m in front of the camera. I can’t explain it.

out and about // the Columbia

Tuesday, June 11th, 2013

A couple weeks ago, while at the beach with my family, we took a little lunchtime trip to the best Cuban Restaurant that I have ever been to. The Columbia…a personal favorite. It’s also become a tradition on our annual beach trips to have a lunch at The Columbia. Cuban sandwiches and cuban coffee, all enjoyed with an ocean view….enough said. columbia final_211columbia final_212columbia final_213columbia final_214columbia final_215columbia final_227columbia final_224columbia final_225columbia final_216columbia final_217columbia final_218columbia final_219columbia final_220columbia final_221columbia final_226

As I was packing my bags for our little beach getaway I started to notice a pattern. I selected a lot of pieces in the coral/pinky peach family ….all of which are perfect for sunset watching! Coral and peach on the beach it is!

beach days //

Tuesday, June 4th, 2013

Matt and I spent the late part of last week at Indian Shores beach with my family. It’s amazing what just one or two days of down time can do for you. I always feel especially inspired when I make an effort to “take a time out” like that. We slept in, adventured and scavenged on the beach, I finished my book, enjoyed my morning coffee overlooking the ocean. We watched the sunset on the beach every evening, and sampled the local fare

…it was good, and we took way too many photos.I’ll prove it to ya!  >the beach_069

inspire me Monday // sentiments

Monday, June 3rd, 2013

Matt and I have been at the beach for the last couple of days, spending time with family, taking little adventures, and also taking tons of photos. We are normally really bad about taking photos of our  daily lives, but I’m glad that we are changing that, because I do believe that I am becoming much more sentimental these days. I will be so glad to have captured happy memories with family and friends one day. Happy to look back on those photos, or items found on the beach while venturing around with Matt.

I have become a sentimental, sappy little being all of a sudden.

I realized this on the day that they came to take photos of our apartment. I looked around at a couple handmade objects that were gifted to us recently, and realized that they hold great memories already. I will look at those objects for a long time and remember those lovely people that made them for me…and it makes me really happy.

I was also reminded of this project that I saw on Pinterest at least a year ago for making travel memory boxes that you can display! I’m not a scrapbooker or anything so that has never really been a great way for me to keep all those photos and objects that hold so many memories. Of course, blogging these memories is an awesome way to store them, but I also love the idea of being able to physically lay out my memories…these are lovely ! I see these as a “not my DIY” project for the near future!  :)

Anyone else a sentimental sap about these kind of things?
