out and about (in Savannah) // The Coffee Fox

Tuesday, April 30th, 2013

Matt and I have a new must-visit stop in Savannah. It’s called The Coffee Fox….we are a bit obsessed. Earlier this month when we were in Savannah to shoot a wedding, we went twice. This past visit (last weekend) we knew that it was a visit we had to make! The coffee fox offers a hip, laid back atmosphere, and delicious (delicious!) coffee. They also have yummy pastry and cheese board varieties! I usually get a drip coffee with cinnamon, and Matt a Horchata latte, we love it! Oh, and the fact that it’s located just a street corner away from The Paris Market sure doesn’t hurt either! ;)

It’s not a trip to Savannah without a visit to The Coffee Fox!

I leave you on this Tuesday with two thoughts:

- I sure do have a lot of photos of me sipping coffee here and there….true to life I guess.haha

- I’m playing around with the idea of creating a “guide to Savannah” button on the sidebar. That way, if anyone wants to plan a trip to Savannah , and wants to know all of our favorite stops, it’s all in one place! An actual guide to our favorites, as well as links to out-and-about posts….whatcha think?

We left our hearts in Savannah

Tuesday, April 16th, 2013

I really do feel like we leave a little piece of ourselves behind every time we depart from Savannah. Don’t get me wrong, we LOVE living in Lakeland, more than I ever thought we would actually. But there is something lovely about Savannah that stole our hearts our very first trip….I wish we could be here once a month but I guess I have to savor the time that we do have there. It was waaay more cold (and also rainy) than we were anticipating so taking the camera along wasn’t always the best option.

So, I give you…..a whole giant miss-mash of random photos from our time in Savannah!

We had to take another trip to Back in the Day Bakery of course! I’m glad to enjoy from scratch banana pudding and glass bottle cokes with my love in an adorable retro bakery any day!

…lots and LOTS of time was spent wandering around the city people watching and architecture scoping

Sometimes when you walk the ENTIRE city, you find stinkin’ awesome burger places that are sure to become staples…like Betty Bombers in the VA building. Delicious!

Hello gravy fries!

In Savannah…you can even have fun in the parking garages.  ;)

This place had the most amazing bottomless salsa (which has sparked a MAJOR salsa kick in the Kent home by the way) , delicious tacos and quesadillas, and local craft beer! Seriously. Taco Basement,on Broughton Street…if you are ever in Savannah !

only in Savannah….

Only in Savannah do you turn the corner to find a hipster dude perched on the side of a building with  his pup, playing an accordion. He was really talented actually….and then he started singing! Amazing voice, crazy accordion skills ….thanks dude, you’re neat!

Who knows, maybe we will bump into each other!  :)

My lovely friend Katie ( she has an awesome blog guys…go say hi!  ) and her fiancé Brian agreed to meet us there for a bit before we set off to take some engagement photos…but we got there a tad early to explore a little bit.

I give you the Oxford Exchange.

a (delicious) poptart shaped problem……

Wednesday, January 30th, 2013

A new (very) guilty pleasure…..poptarts. Specifically strawberry poptarts.

They are delicious, yet terrible for me.

But, I can’t help myself. It’s such a happy treat!

……but for real. It’s become a real problem. My go to snack that does not power my body at all except for a five-ish minute energy burst. ( like Nutri-yum bars, and Parks and Rec watchers out there?) This artificial strawberry flavored addiction that I have started needs to come to an end because pretty soon I am going to be seeing some not-so-cute changes in my waistline, probably my teeth cavity wise, and I’m positive consuming massive amounts of poptarts isn’t good for my insides either.

I’m off to find some sort of trauma counseling or a pop tart addiction support group or something…. after I have just.one.more.

goodbye sweet treats…no more sugar comas for this girl

First things first: Is this not the most darling blog you’ve ever seen? Sara and I go waaaay back to church youth group days. I always remember her being quiet and behind the scenes, and I never knew she had all this creativity in her. About a year ago we reconnected on Facebook and I was so pleased to find The Lovely Lemon. Between her crafty goods, her gorgeous photography, and charming writing style, she’s made a loyal reader out of me!

When Sara asked me to do a guest post for her I was pretty sure I knew what it would be about. As I began to research the colors, textures, patterns and trends that are inspiring me these days, the theme MINT kept coming up. Mint in every area. The color, the fashion trends, the flavour! I absolutely love how trends these days are filtering into every aspect of pop culture. Haute Couture Fashion Designers started added Mint fabrics to their spring collections and soon the color was showing up in jewelry, craft stores, paper goods, on walls and home decor, in nail polish, on a partridge in a pear tree. Here are a few ways mint is inspiring me.

FASHION

Mint Dresses, Jeans, Jewelry and Heels are all the rage these days. Mint is so soft and feminine especially when paired with sweet chiffon fabrics and girl bows and florals.

HOME DECOR

Mint is a surprisingly subtle tone to add to a cool color pallet for a serene living space. I love the use of this color in combination with both rustic distressed environments as well as slick modern decor. It is so very versatile. Try color blocking with strategically placed furniture pieces, or get bold and paint the ceiling!

WEDDINGS

If I hear another bride tell me her wedding color is purple I’m going to scream. Can’t we get more creative with the color choices? Mint is such a wonderful option for a wedding! It is soft and classy, and creates a magical look for that special day. Why not be gutsy and wear a mint wedding gown! Wouldn’t that be unique?

FOOD AND DRINK

I’m not sure if its the southern gal in me or not, but I am a HUGE fan of the Mint Julep. What’s not to love? Its sweet, its cool, its minty, its bourbon- So refreshing. Well what if you took all the wonderful things about Mint Juleps and put that in a cupcake? Wow. My mind has been sufficiently blown. (Click the image for the recipe)

Well that’s all for now folks. Be sure to stop by and visit me sometime!
