Daisy says relax

Saturday, November 17th, 2012

This is Daisy.  She keeps giving me this look.

She would like me to relax. She would like me to stop leaving her at the kennel quite so much. As much as she likes it there, I know she misses us. She would like nothing more than for us to snuggle into the bed and be warm and cozy forever.

You and me both, Daisy, you and me both.

Just one more out of town wedding tomorrow and that’s it. It will be time for the holidays. Time for lots of evenings spent eating Thanksgiving leftovers, watching Christmas movies. Sitting on our butts , with you on our lap…..all in our nice, warm apartment.

Bear with me dog. Things are slowing down.

strange but true….

Friday, August 24th, 2012

Here it comes…a brand new feature called Strange but True! I have been seeing a lot of posts lately on blogs I adore with a “little random things about me” kind of theme to them. I love getting to know the little quirks and joys of my favorite lady-bloggers, so it inspired me to share some weirdness with you all.

Lucky you huh? lol

I get shamelessly excitable when I see a dog!

As you may or may not already know, I work at Starbucks. When I work the drive-through….I get overwhelmed with excitement when someone brings their dog through with them …embarrassingly so. I am that person who will ask to pet your dog . I will ask what your dog’s name is. I will also talk to your dog like it’s a baby….I’m that person.

Sierra posted this on her blog Exceptionally Ordinary last week, and it was just too perfect!

Yup….I love em’.

this is a fact : Matt and I were out in front of our apartment taking photos of my outfit…when I saw a dog. The photo’s you see are my legit reaction. I’m embarrassing….but I like me.  :)

I couldn’t do all this dog-talkin’ without sharing at least one photo of my pup Daisy! We always take her down to the lake with us to feed (well she chases) the birds! Don’t you just want to squish her face? ….I do.

On this note: feel very free to post photos of your puppies (every dog is a puppy in my brain) or links to photos of your puppies absolutely anytime. That is all.  ;)

Daisy Days….

Tuesday, August 14th, 2012

Every once in a while I look back on old blog posts to get a sense of things. This week I did just this and realized that I hardly ever share anything about my little love Daisy! How could I? …I’m sorry Daisy  ;)

Daisy is a red miniature dachshund and yes….she sleeps in our bed. She’s snuggly. She’s warm….the perfect little bedtime buddy.Unfortunately because she’s the perfect bedtime buddy..it makes it so difficult to get out of bed! Here’s a few shots from this morning…..

Just look at that little face!

Please tell me I’m not the only one who’s lovie little dog sleeps in bed with them!

daisy in my bag

Friday, June 15th, 2012

I was taking photos today for a feature on Lovely Little Things, and Daisy just couldn’t resist! She just had to know what I was up to!

The photos are for a “what’s in my bag” kinda thing, and let me tell you…I wish I could tote Daisy around in my bag all day long. Puppy snuggles whenever I  want!

everybody calm down!

We all get stressed. It’s a simple fact about life. Those days that your to-do list is just far too long, nothing is going right, or everything on your list is just taking far longer than it was supposed to take (this happens to me a lot). There are a few things I have learned about myself that generally help me on days like this…

I have to lean on the things that I believe. I love a mighty God that desires to take the burden off of my shoulders, the true hardships and devastations in life, but I believe that his desire is even to remove the burden of my smaller stresses. I cast my cares upon him, whether they are large or small. He is the provider of my direction and also my peace.

I cast my emotional and mental stress upon the Lord.

………and my physical stress upon my bed!

Sometimes a good nap is all your body needs to power through an intense day. I prefer to take that little nap with a cozy blanket, warm, straight from the dryer.

This is kind of a silly de-stresser….magazines. yup.

If I am creatively stressed…. sometimes it’s easier to take a break from whatever I am creating, and get lost in the pages, the articles, the photos…it’s nice….and Readymade, Kinfolk are always at the top of the list!

Some days, especially the creatively stressed days. Like days before a big big craft show, Matt has to just make me stop.

When I’m slaving away, consuming crazy amounts of coffee, and getting all wild eyed about the to do lists, and the production goals I have set out for myself (which tend to be very impractical)….Matt must make me stop.

He makes me look at everything I have accomplished that day, and tells me I’m awesome. Then we usually go and do something fun, a mini date….it really works.

I mean look at that guy….who could be stressed with him around?

Matt and I live very close to Orlando, which means we live very close to the Magic Kingdom. We got season passes as an anniversary gift last year, so on a spare day during the most stressful of weeks….we go to the happiest place on Earth! We ride rides, see cute little ladies all dressed up like Disney princesses, and DO NOT talk about work…or bills.

There is no better place to be distracted from stressful things!

This little cutie is always a very helpful stress reliever too! She doesn’t care if I missed a deadline, or didn’t get enough done today…she just wants to cuddle!

What are your secrets for banishing stress?
