Lovely day at Lucky Day

Wednesday, December 5th, 2012

It’s that time of year….for local handmade shows! I always love setting up at Lucky Day Emporium! ..and the holiday shows are the best!

Here’s my setup from The Fancy Flea at the beginning of November. I had a 10×10 space to work with. But I knew at Lucky Day I would only have about a 6 foot length to use. Matt (my talented carpenter of a hubby) had to sort out how to convert this 10×10 wooden structure into something that would look lovely, display all of my handmade goods, and still fit the brand and style…with a 6 foot limitation.

He managed to turn this:

into this!

It’s fantastic. Boy do I love him.

Things started out a bit on the slow side for me. But by the time late afternoon came, I guess “my crowd” rolled out of bed, took a break from  scouring the local thrift stores, and headed over for some handmade loveliness and vintage goodies! I sold quite a few crochet headbands, crochet cowls, and tons of cup sleeves! People walked away with gifts that were perfectly perfect for the ones they love, and maybe even a couple goodies for themselves ;)

P.S. I also got a few custom orders right there at the show! That was a new experience for me. Sure I have gotten custom requests through etsy or from friends on Facebook…..but it was fun wheelin’, dealin’ , and talking designs/colors with my customers right there in front of me! What fun!

Lucky Day Craft Market

Thursday, November 29th, 2012

It’s that time of year yet again…..craft show time! The fall shows are my favorite because the weather is always so breezy and lovely ! I always look forward to markets held at Lucky Day Emporium, at the last market I had a lot of success! But even more important than what I can sell there, I just love being at Lucky Day! The ladies who own and operate it are just so darn sweet (and stylish!) , and there is never a shortage of sweet treats at their special events! (peppermint marshmallows anyone?)

It’s this Saturday, hence the case of “yarn brain“. I’m working hard to get prepared but I am so excited!

Here’s to getting everything done, including sleep!

yarn for brains….

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012

My brain has been replaced. By a multitude of yarn.

I have been crocheting and crocheting and crocheting away. Ever since the very successful Fancy Flea about a month ago cleared out so much of my inventory, I have needed to re-stock for an upcoming show this weekend (more on that one later ) I have also been concerned about getting the shop super stocked for the Christmas season so that I can sell a ton but still be able to take it easy on the production of items and just enjoy the holidays.

I just love the idea that people give some of the items that I hand make as gifts! There is something so special about that….. I want to make sure that there is plenty to choose from in the shop to suit all kinds of different styles. But this does mean crocheting at every chance I get. Getting up at 3am to work at Starbucks, coming home to crochet all afternoon, making and having dinner with Matt, then crocheting till bed time.

I guess that’s the price when you want to create your own handmade business….an endless to-do (or to-make) list, designing cup sleeves instead of sleeping, e-mails and listings…..God bless my yarn filled brain.

it was fancy…

Matt and I have sifted through all of the other photos in que to find the photos from the fancy flea a couple weeks back. I am (very!) happy to report that it was a wonderful success! I must thank my talented husband for creating this incredible display for me! At the Spring Fancy Flea my display, well, it left a bit to be desired. A wooden table under a tent.BORING. But Matt upped the ante! A beautiful wooden display to show off all of my handmade and vintage goodness! That’s right, this time around I offered vintage items for sale as well as handmade items! I love seeing which piece goes home with who. I put so much time and love into making/finding all that I sell, and I love to see them go to a good home.

The air was chilly in the morning, convincing us Floridians that is is indeed November after all. Which suited me just fine, as it only encouraged the bundled perusers to spend more time looking at the items that could keep them warm. ;)

It was a fantastic day all around. Good weather, good sales, and visits from many many friends from both near and far! I’m already plotting out some things for the Spring Fancy Flea!

I just love seeing the streets of my little town bursting with handmade and vintage items, and many people who love them.

So, this time at at the Fancy Flea was my first experience with selling vintage, and I’m thinking of selling vintage in the shop as well. I would love to hear your thoughts, would you like to see vintage items as well as handmade items in the Lovely Lemonade shop?

Hello friends.

I have been playing catch-up in a big big way. October really kicked my ass.  We shot four weddings, three of which were out of state. I got the flu. We set up at the Fancy Flea last weekend (which went really well by the way! More to come…) and we have two out of town weddings to shoot this month too. All the while, working every “off” day at good ol’ Starbucks. Don’t get me wrong. I love our life, and that we get to make mine doing something that we love (together!) . I just don’t think I realized just how much it would absolutely knock me out to be this on-the-go-all-the-time.

Meanwhile, I miss blogging. I really do. And not to get lame, but I feel like I have been failing at it lately. I’m so out of practice, and out of synch. So bear with me friends as I get back into the swing. Won’t you?

Thanks, you are the best readers I could ask for!

moving on….remember that sneak peek of fancy flea prep that I promised you would see on Friday? Better late than never. ;)

I brought bags and bogs of crocheted pretties, jewelry, and a new addition….wreaths!

A rainbow of crochet cowls. My favorite is the one on the bottom.  :)

Some solid colored cowls got a few vintage adornments added to them. I am pretty darn pleased with how they turned out.

….and the wreaths! I’m so excited about how stinkin’ cute they are! I may not be able to part with that sweet little sock monkey. :)
