out and about : the poor porker

Everybody has rituals.

Our Saturday morning ritual is to go down to the Farmers Market in Downtown Lakeland to The Poor Porker.

The Poor Porker is Jarrid Masse and Robyn Wilson (and occasionally Jarrid’s sister Sarah). They sell delicious hot and iced chicory coffee, and powder sugary goodness in the form of beignets!   What the heck are beignets you ask? Well, it’s basically friend pastry dough. Little pillows of heaven.HEAVEN I say! Heaven covered in powdered sugar and bacon!

As delicious as the beignets and coffee are onSaturdays…the community is better! There’s something magical that happens at that market on Saturday mornings. It’s like all the creative people come out to meet and share over beignets! Robyn and Jarrid have created a creative hub right here in our town!

If you live in Lakeland , go downtown Saturday morning. Have a beignet…and a chat. Soak it up!

my breakfast:

“The Poor Porker ” (rarely do I get anything else) beignets with powdered sugar, maple glaze…and bacon!

….and chicory iced coffee.yum!  :)

YES, me, too! The Poor Porker is my Sat morning ritual, meditation, medication, … LOL

My kids love the Traditional & the Poor Porker with maple syrup & bacon. I love variety, so I go for the weekly inspiration beignet. Of course, my daughter lets me have the soaked-in-syrup-&-bacon-crumbs sugargoo at the bottom of her bowl when she’s done…MMMM, what a good kid! hahaha
