Diet and exercise:
I am making some changes.. Before we get into the meat of the post I want to say that this is not about fatness or skinniness, or going after the “classic” idea of beauty…it’s about feeling better. Feeling good. Having energy. Feeling like what I see in the mirror is the real me shining through! I really want to make improvements in my diet, because you get out what you put in. Don’t get me wrong we are not over the top unhealthy eaters, but we don’t really make that many considerations when we are eating (Matt and I that is) so I want to make some small changes in these areas.
Also…in the area of exercise. What exercise? Not this girl.
I used to take several dance classes a week when I was in high school, so that’s what kept me in tip top shape. And it felt great! So much energy (and flexibility!) Then after I stopped dancing I became a runner. I ran every day. But when Matt and I got married at the tender age of 19, I was so entrenched in trying to figure out how to be a wife, and work, and run a household when previously the only things I had to worry about were grades and getting to work on time…..let’s just say exercise was the last thing on my mind. But almost six years later I am used to the juggling act, and now it is time to get back in the groove and get it together! I want to have massive amounts of every and be able to make it up 3 flights of stairs without losing my breath (hello cardio!)
it’s goal time!
I do want to be a runner again. But this heat..my goodness. What a terrible time to start. I need to make these goals attainable. So for now my goal is to do something 3 times a week.
Run, bike ride, workout video, shoot! sit-ups while I watch Grey’s Anatomy! Anything is much better than nothing!
Water, water, water….NO SODA!
There are a few changes I need to make in my diet, but cutting out soda and hydrating with lots and lots of water is where I am starting! But plain old water ALL THE TIME will get very boring! So if I need to drink water, I’m making it interesting!
I found this link for yummy flavored water recipes! The watermelon rosemary one especially excites me!
I did share with you guys a little bit about my interest in the whole drinking lemon water thing (courtesy of Jessica from Lovely Little Things! Thanks Jess!)and how beneficial it can be in so many ways, so I am going to be working it into my routine as well!
I’ve never been a big hair and makeup girl…it’s just not how I grew up. I wasn’t really a tomboy or anything,I just never really learned about plucking eyebrows, and 20 different ways to do your eye makeup…but I want to learn now!
Lauren Conrad’s blog has been very helpful as I try to sort all of this out. Here’s a few things that I think will be useful…..meaning Lauren Conrad taught me how to pluck my eyebrows guys! (she can show you too here!)
This nutmeg, cinnamon, and honey scrub is going to make my face all exfoliated and sweet! I can’t wait to try it out! !
…and then there’s this salty lemon body scrub(again from LCs blog , the recipe is here!) I adore the smell of lemons and this scrub sounds perfectly exfoliating!
As I try all of these scrubs and masks…. it makes me want to kick my makeup look up a notch!
(too bad I don’t really know what I’m doing in this area.)
Both makeup looks (above) are very appealing to me….time to youtube it up to find some tips and tricks to make this happen!
But I must remind myself at the end of the day….this statement still rings true:
Here’s to feeling great!
